AskAgento is operated by VisualSearch GmbH, Vienna, Austria. This page describes how we handle data when you use the AskAgento WooCommerce plugin and related cloud services, and when you use the AskAgento app in ChatGPT.

What we process

Product catalogue data from your WooCommerce shop: the information needed to power search, filters, recommendations, labelling, and related features (for example product titles, descriptions, attributes, categories, tags, and product images you sync to AskAgento).

Shopper searches and chat messages sent to AskAgento from your storefront: the text and images shoppers search with and the messages they write to the chatbot. We need them to answer each request, and we use the text for your Lost demand report.

Order figures, only if you turn on revenue tracking in the plugin: order ID, total, currency and payment time, and which AskAgento feature led to the order. No customer names, email or postal addresses, or payment details.

We do not use your product data for unrelated advertising profiles or resale to third parties.

Why we process it

Product data is processed solely to provide and improve the AskAgento service you connect to your store: catalogue sync, AI search, automation features, and usage limits tied to your plan.

Retention and deletion

Data is kept for as long as your shop remains connected and your plan is active, according to your catalogue sync settings.

When you disconnect AskAgento or delete your shop data through the plugin or by requesting removal, we delete the associated catalogue and derived data from our systems. After deletion, it is not retained for service operation.

Lost demand report

The plugin's Lost demand report shows shop owners what shoppers searched for without a good match and which topics they keep asking the chatbot about. To build it, we keep a request log of AI text searches and chatbot messages, including the text shoppers typed and how well it matched the catalogue. Once a day we turn that log into a summary per shop. Before the summary is stored, we remove email addresses, links and long numbers such as phone or order numbers. Chatbot questions are grouped into topics by our hosted AI model provider (OpenAI), which processes them on our behalf. Summaries are deleted after 32 days, and when the shop uninstalls AskAgento. Only searches and topics that came up at least twice are shown to the shop owner. We do not use this data to identify shoppers, and we do not share it with other shops.

AskAgento app in ChatGPT

When you use the AskAgento app in ChatGPT, ChatGPT sends us the store or product link you shared and your search text. We use them only to search the catalogue of that store and return product details and links. We do not ask for, and do not store, your name, email address or chat history; operational logs record which tool was used and for which store, without the search text, and are deleted after 14 days. Only stores whose owners turned on “List in ChatGPT” are searchable. OpenAI’s privacy policy applies to your use of ChatGPT.

We do not sell or share this data. The service runs in the public cloud; our cloud hosting provider processes this data on our behalf. The results we return (public product details and links from the store's catalogue) are sent back to ChatGPT. You can stop using the app at any time by disconnecting AskAgento in ChatGPT; questions or requests about your data: hi@askagento.com.

This website (cookies & similar technologies)

On askagento.com we do not set optional cookies until you consent. We store your choice in your browser (local storage) so the banner does not reappear on every visit. You can change or withdraw consent at any time via Cookie settings in the page footer.

Reject non-essential means no optional services load. Accept all enables statistics and marketing. Customize lets you choose each purpose separately:

• Statistics: Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; parent: Google LLC, USA). Purpose: understand how visitors use the site (e.g. page views, interactions). After you consent we load Google Tag Manager, which then loads Google Analytics. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA; Google uses Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable. See Google’s privacy policy.
• Marketing: Google Ads (Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; parent: Google LLC, USA). Purpose: measure which ad campaigns lead to a signup or purchase (conversion tracking, remarketing) and personalise the ads you are shown. After you consent we load Google Tag Manager, which then loads the Google Ads tags and may set cookies such as _gcl_au. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA; Google uses Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable. See Google’s privacy policy.
  Also under Marketing: the Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd., Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland; parent: Meta Platforms, Inc., USA). Purpose: measure which ads on Facebook and Instagram lead to a download, checkout or purchase, and show relevant ads to visitors of this site (remarketing). After you consent we load the Meta Pixel, which sends page views and these interactions together with your browser and device information to Meta and may set cookies such as _fbp and _fbc. We never send your claim code or payment details. We and Meta are joint controllers for collecting and transmitting this data (Art. 26 GDPR); Meta is responsible for its further processing. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA; Meta is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and uses Standard Contractual Clauses. We use Google Consent Mode v2. Until you consent, the consent signals analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization are set to denied, and neither Google Tag Manager nor the Meta Pixel is loaded at all. Your choice updates these signals for the purposes you allowed.

Product and tutorial videos on this site are self-hosted. Playing them does not load YouTube or other third-party video embeds.

If you withdraw statistics or marketing consent, we set the corresponding Consent Mode signals back to denied and delete the Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta Pixel cookies set for this site where technically possible.
